If I remember correctly, the group was trying to bring attention to the theater before it was torn down. I think they ever gave a concernt to raise money. They wanted it placed on the National Registry of Historical Buildings so no one could ever tear it down, but they failed to block its demolition.
The album was a way to preserve at least how they felt about the theater.
