Chicago History Forum: Is this interesting to you?

Hi!
In as few words as possible--at 97, my grandfather Frank G. Hattan is (I think) Chicago's oldest retired firefighter. He can still tell some amazing stories. He used to see John Dillinger at a restaurant, and didn't know it was him until he was shot and his picture was in the paper. He was also in the paper several times when he rescued people--boys from thin ice and a baby boy from a burning building. I'm getting the name of the baby, who is now probably close to mid-50's. My hope is to find out if this person is living, and to tell him about how he was saved. I just thought that this was an interesting piece of Chicago history.
ps--The local CFFU #2 just had a party for him because he's been a member for over 70 years.
